To be a champion you need the game, you need the heart, and you need the mind.  At the Academy, we constantly reinforce all three aspects and provide the tools for our players to enable them to maximize their tennis potential. When addressing the mind of the athlete, two components are considered - the intellectual and the emotional.  Both play a major role in the player's ability to develop and achieve peak performance.  The intellectual aspects are addressed through what we call Knowledge Sharing.  The emotional aspects are addressed through what we call Mental Conditioning.

Our mental conditioning sessions offers our players a window into themselves - Who are they as athletes and how can they improve their mental state while training and competing?  For our younger players, basic concepts are introduced and practiced to develop positive mental behaviors, patterns, and habits.  For our older and more advanced players, sophisticated techniques are presented that enable athletes to discover and overcome mental road blocks while continuing to develop more stable and powerful mental tools to propel the player forward with their training and competitive performance.

Alongside our Academy staff, sports psychology specialists are invited to the Academy to join many of these sessions and work in small groups and one-on-one with our athletes.  Our specialists typically are leaders in their field and work with collegiate and professional athletes to help them maximize performance.  All methods utilized are recognized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).
