Our goal with each individual player is to help them achieve substantial competitive improvements with their tennis now while also enabling the athlete to continue to develop in the future, so they may reach their full competitive potential.

Thus, although registrations are accepted on a daily basis to enable players to customize their training schedule, it is highly recommended that players reserve no less than two consecutive weeks so that our coaches have the best opportunity to determine each player's individual training needs and implement a training program enabling the player to make the most meaningful and lasting progress.

We offer both full day and half day registration options.  Both half day and full day training, as well as morning and afternoon training offer the same opportunity to customize your training plan to gain maximum benefit.

Beyond our daily morning and afternoon schedule, Academy players also have the ability to participate in a variety of special tennis opportunities.  These opportunities include:

Individual Training

Players have the ability to reserve additional individual training time with the Academy Director and his staff.  This unique opportunity enables players to further customize and improve their training and competitive results, at an affordable cost.  Players seeking to achieve significant tournament success or make maximum progress during their time at the Academy are highly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

There are very limited slots available, so reserve early!

Invitation-Only Training

The Academy offers high level training sessions for our older participants.  These sessions will be designed for those already competing and preparing to compete at USTA sectional/national events, ITF competitions, and collegiate competition.  To maintain consisted high level training for all players, this will be offered on an invitation only basis.  Contact the Academy Director for more information.

Academy Competitions

Throughout all weeks of the summer, the Academy offers a variety of competitions for our players. These events are designed to not only provide high level competition experience, but also a learning environment so that players can better understand the areas they need to improve and the opportunity to practice such skills in a true competitive atmosphere.  Parents also are encouraged to participate in many of these events to add to the fun, excitement, and learning opportunity.

Tournament Coaching

Academy players participating in off-site tournaments may request the Academy Director and coaches to observe and assist the player during their participation in such tournaments.  During 2015, we accompanied Academy players as they competing in over 35 tournaments throughout New England, as well as National level competitions.  For many players, our presence helped them to perform at their very best.  Contact the Academy Director for more information.

Parent Input

When applying to the Academy, beyond typical player information, we offer an opportunity for parents to provide as much input as possible about their player so that we can determine if the Academy would be a good fit for them.  Please include any/all information that you feel would give us the best opportunity to evaluate your child.  Once we receive your online application, we will confirm receipt and begin our review of the player's information.

Player Evaluation

The number of Academy slots are purposely maintained at a low level so all accepted players will gain the maximum benefit while working with our coaches.  Player applications are carefully reviewed by the Academy Director.  If the Director determines that the player has the potential to succeed in the Academy but additional information is necessary, contact will be made to arrange for a follow-up conversation or on-court evaluation.  Thereafter a final determination will be made regarding acceptance into the Academy.

To provide the best experience and results for our Academy players, unfortunately we cannot accept and accommodate all applications.  Listed below is an example of areas we consider when reviewing a prospective player's application to the Academy:

   -  Player ability, desire and discipline to excel.

   -  Competitiveness and success in tennis and other sports.

   -  Family athletic history and support of the athlete.

   -  Previous participation in Lapides Tennis Academy programs.

                   -  Success in academics and other extracurricular activities.

                   -  Sportsmanship and a player's ability to excel in both individual and team training.

To help you determine if the Academy would be a good fit for your player, we have created an on-line tool to provide real

time feedback.  Simply go to our

Academy Evaluator

and provide information about your player.  The tool will then

give you instant feedback about how strong a fit the Academy may be for your player.  You may also wish to review the

About the Academy

section which provides further information on players that are typically better suited for the program.
