We seek to engage and challenge parents with their learning and understanding of the game and how it best fits with their child.  Such areas we address include...

How do you determine what potential your child might have in competitive tennis?

How do you know if competitive tennis is a good fit for your child and family?

How do you distinguish if the advice you're receiving about your child's competitive tennis is objective, competent, and honest?

How do you use competitive tennis for your child's and family's best interest?

What are realistic competitive tennis goals for your child?

How can you plan and manage your child's competitive tennis activities, in combination with other priorities and various tennis training options?

How do you maintain the most productive relationship with your child's school team or private coach?

How do you know if your child is on the right track toward achieving appropriate competitive tennis goals?

These are just a few of the issues we help parents and players address during their time at the Academy.  Competitive success and achieving long term goals with the sport involve much more than practice time on the court.  We offer opportunities for Academy players and parents to learn how best to manage their tennis to achieve their individual objectives.

Competitive players cannot be successful without the ongoing support of their parents and family.  This support normally take many forms including; emotional, intellectual, physical, disciplinary, social, academic, logistical, advocacy, and financial.  With this simple truth in mind, the Academy takes the approach that it can only achieve its mission - to provide the most promising young athletes with elite level coaching so as to maximize their competitive potential - by working very closely with players' parents.  Collaboration, communication, trust, honesty, realism, and appropriate goal setting are among the gold standard practices we seek to establish with all parents of our Academy players.

There may be certain situations where parents may unwittingly make it more difficult for their player to develop.  At the same time, there may be information Academy coaches will need to understand about certain players in order to provide the best training experience possible for the athlete.  In such cases open dialogue between Academy coaches and parents, and appropriate actions to address such issues are a must.

In all cases the Academy encourages active involvement and input by players' parents, and seeks to establish a strong partnership.  At the Academy, parents help us and we help them in the process of developing the most positive and successful competitive young athletes.
